India suffering from MENDISOPHOBIA!!!

The 23-year-old army officer badly bruised India's batting pride during his team's 2-1 victory in the series that ended here on Monday, capturing 26 wickets.He destroyed India in the first match he played against them, grabbing six wickets for just 13 runs in a magical spell to fire his team to an emphatic victory in the Asia Cup final in Karachi last month.Mendis is not a big turner of the ball like retired Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne or Muralitharan, but the key to his success is the way he grips the ball with his fingers and flicks it to bowl a variety of deliveries.
Tendulkar, who was 172 short of breaking retired West Indies captain Brian Lara's world record of 11,953 Test runs before the series, could manage just 95 in six innings without a half-century.Mendis, although classified as slow-medium, bowls a mixture of deliveries, including googlies, off-breaks top-spinners, flippers and leg-breaks, as well as a Carrom Ball, released with a flick of his middle finger.MOST POPULARLY KNOWN AS CARROM BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mendis is unusual, freaky and has developed a ball which could be described as a 'flicker' [Carrom Ball], which he releases with a snap of his fingers, which is very unusual compared to other orthodox spin bowlers.

Mendis is the author of a new delivery - the Carrom Ball. Since the Doosra, the Carrom Ball is the latest addition to the cricket lexicon.

To bowl a Carrom Ball in cricket, the ball is held between the thumb, forefinger and the middle finger, and instead of a regular release, the ball is squeezed out/ flicked by the fingers like a Carrom player flicking the disc on a Carrom Board. It could result in an off-break, a leg-break, a googly or even a zooter.

CARROM BALL

The Carrom Ball is the name for a type of bowling delivery used in cricket. It is named because the ball is released by flicking the ball between the thumb and a bent middle finger in order to impart spin on the ball.

The delivery was invented by Jack Iverson of Australia and continued by John Gleeson, also of Australia. However it has re-entered the cricketing consciousness after its use by Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka.

Although the Carrom Ball can be made to either turn away or into a right-handed batsman, Mendis uses it to turn away from a right handed batsman, in order to contrast it with his off-breaks and googlies. The Australian test cricketer and coach Peter Philpott actually predicted the rise of a bowler such as Mendis in a book written in 1973.
Mendis has been phenomenally successful, with 26 wickets in three Tests and 27 in 11 ODIs to date, and the carrom-ball is an important weapon in his armoury.Notable among his many carrom-ball victims has been VVS Laxman, lbw in the second innings of the second Test, and then stumped in the first innings of the third.
Born on March 11, 1985, Mendis hails from a hamlet in Moratuwa.

following basic training he played for the army team and saw active military service as a Gunner in the Sri Lanka Artillery, a regiment of the Sri Lanka Army. Following the Asia Cup final, he has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant on the 7 July 2008 and the next day again to Second Lieutenant.

Lord Ganesh, the patron deity is the God of wisdom. Come August, preparations to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi - the auspicious day when Lord Ganesh was born - begin with great enthusiasm all over the state. The 11-day festival begins with the installation of beautifully sculpted Ganesha idols in homes and mandaps (large tents), colourfully decorated, depicting religious themes or current events. The Ganesh idols are worshipped with families and friends. Many cultural events are organised and people participate in them with keen interest. After ten exciting days comes the time to bid farewell to the beloved God.

Lokamanya saw how Lord Ganesha was worshipped by the upper stratum as well as the rank and file of India. The visionary that he was, Tilak realized the cultural importance of this deity and popularised Ganesha Chaturthi as a National Festival "to bridge the gap between the Brahmins and the non-Brahmins and find an appropriate context in which to build a new grassroots unity between them" in his nationalistic strivings against the British in Maharashtra. He knew that India couldn't fight her rulers until she solved the differences within her own. Hence, to unite all social classes Tilak chose Ganesha as a rallying point for Indian protest against British rule because of his wide appeal as "the god for Everyman".

It was around 1893, during the nascent stages of Indian nationalism, that Tilak began to organize the Ganesh Utsav as a social and religious function. He was the first to put in large public images of Ganesha in pavilions and establish the tradition of their immersion on the tenth day. The festival facilitated community participation and involvement in the form of learned discourses, dance dramas, poetry recital, musical concerts, debates, etc. It served as a meeting place for common people of all castes and communities, at a time when all social and political gatherings were forbidden by the British Empire for fear of conspiracies to be hatched against them. An important festival during the Peshwa era, Ganesha Chaturthi acquired at this time a more organized form all over India largely due to Lokmanya's efforts.
Since then, Ganesh Chaturthi has been celebrated throughout Maharashtra as also in other states with great community enthusiasm and participation. With the independence of India in 1947, it was proclaimed to be a national festival.
Today, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and many other parts of India. The festival is so popular that the preparations begin months in advance.

Abhishek Kapoor's film, Rock On.....awesome, simply gr8 2 watch. Whhhatttt a movie!!! i still cant believe farhan sang 6 out of 9 songs!! Arjun Rampal was a stunner..his best performane till now ..i believe...a Rockstar would get embarrassed seeing arjun's looks...way to go Mr.rampal...u look like a professional rockstar! and hats off to farhan for his creativity...Rock On!! have seen a good hindi movie aftr a long time! 5* ..all the way!! the movie looks great with a very young and refreshing feel to it..arjun rampal as usaual is looking stuning with his shdes on and in difrent colours vry new..purab is awesome man with hi goti on his is loking like on of the rockers kind..i think the movies mave not go on to make records but it will surely be apreciated ,same wat hapen with dil chaht hai .but this rock band seems to rock india with its songs and look..and yes before finishing this i must say prachi u have some future in bollywood say bye to tv serials and welcome to bollywood .rock on guys

Moments at college memories forever

Gulping down breakfast after a quick shower, you put on your denims, a cool shirt, freshened with some deodorant and leave for college, speeding along the road. At the parking you give yourself a final look and set your hair in the rear-view mirror. Then you enter your class after meeting some friends, 15 minutes after the lecture has begun. You select bench behind a huge and tall guy and patiently wait only to sign the attendance sheet.
Almost all students keep gazing at the professor but with their minds somewhere down in the canteen or at the door, waiting for `that someone' to come or thinking of that special appointment you have on that day. There are a handful of sincere first-bench-students, who attend each and every lecture and have all the detailed notes, which the outstanding students, (students who are always standing out especially apvp,me,ratish,ganesh pai,roshan,harshal,etc) can photocopy . Joking and gossiping from behind your book or playing sudoku in the most boring lecture during which half the class is already snoring(roshan and ganva), were some of the methods adopted to kill time. By the end of the lecture, everyone is restless and keeps glancing at their watches, slamming books and dropping bags. The professor mercilessly continues teaching and phattu saying"meri phat rahi hai yaar".
Submissions is the only time you get to see all your classmates, who are those familiar faces that As soon as 12:45pm occurs on watch and everyone is out of the class, meeting friends on the foyer, in the canteen , to sip a nice hot cup of coffee, drooling over your amour beau or belle, exchanging secret smiles and then telling your friends of your latest bakras. The thrill of bunking lectures, the fun of partying or going for movies and picnics, the joy when you see all time bakras rns,harshal,ratish,vp,roshan,rathor,etc getting caught, or the embarrassment of facing the person you were talking about, who all the while was standing just beside you, are truly unforgettable times.
Who can forget the numerous pranks we played. The first time apvp screwed us,the entertainers rathor,ratish ,vp,roshan,vishal kasi and vaibhav.The naughty smiles(specially ankit), the comments of friends, passing your critical opinion of those you envied and hated. The taste of tears when you lost your friends, the heartache when you were ditched and dumped.The moment when when we heared ankit getting drop and everybody getting restless. These are moments that can make emotions flow at any time in life..

The Traditional day and gathering, are the most awaited days in the college when every boy and girl `dress-to-kill' and have a gala time. Hey! don't forget JAM sessions for expressing our feelings.
And now, talking of our teachers who scream their lungs out to fill something in our empty upper chambers and help us fill that white sheet of paper with those black lines which we get somewhere around March-April. And what do we say about them;
``Arey, kya padha rahi hain?''
``Bahoot bore karti hain!''
``Sir ko to seekhana hee nahin aata hai!'' or just keep commenting on the way they look, dress or talk.

I will never forget my college years, they have been the best years in my life till now. I have seen, learnt and experienced so much.
I have found friends, some didn't care and drifted apart. I will always remember my favourite place in college, my professors, the canteen coffee, all my friends, those innocent and decent faces of people(ap,vp) who turned out to be devils in disguise. All the twists in the kaleidoscope of life are experiences that have helped me mature. I will cherish them forever.
So enjoy your college life because these moments will never come again.

Don't be the cause of embarrassment, shame and disgrace to ALL. At least make an effort to stand-up somewhere close to their expectations and trust. Remember just a few moments can ruin your entire future and relationships.

One has to keep a fine balance. Enjoy yourself while in college, but remember there is a reason to be in college. The next 30 to 40 years of your life will shape up on the basis of how your spend your time in college.
